Length of credit history is a well-established feature in traditional credit scoring systems (FICO, TransUnion, CRC, etc.). Pngme Insight, transaction_ count_180, applies this concept to SMS log data by aggregating the number of transactions over a 6-month (180-day) period on the user’s device.

Overall Takeaways
Over a quarter of users logged 50 or less transactions in 180 days. 71% of them demonstrated an inability to repay a 20K NGN loan. For these users, we have two explanations:
Low Transaction Volume:
Low transaction volume signals the user’s financial inactivity and/or that the user is not suitable for originating retail credit products.
Device Switching:
While the user’s transaction volume may be high, they may be switching mobile devices frequently. This type of behavior in and of itself is an insight and can be indicative of fraudulent activity.
This insight can validate that a prospective borrower has an active and lengthy credit profile that meets the target criteria of specific retail credit products. Identifying low transaction_count_180 is an effective approach to swiftly screening out unsuitable and/or fraudulent applicants.
